Matt should be used to this by now. He's not exactly some small time, neighbourhood lawyer anymore. Following the ordeals of Wilson Fisk and Frank Castle, like it or not, Matt was thrust into the public eye. And Foggy, of course, earned himself a name during their time apart. Together, it's no surprise that people seek them out for major cases, but that doesn't mean Matt can't be humbled when it happens.
Especially when he finds a literal Avenger sitting in his little office in Hell's Kitchen.
He's not sure if he has his trip to Los Angeles to thank for this or if it's just his reputation, but it's not every day someone gets to say that Captain America wants them to be their lawyer. Matt knows what people are saying about Sam Wilson. New York is particularly precious about Steve Rogers, but Matt did his homework once Sam had made the appointment to meet him, and the sentiment regarding the new Captain America seems to bleed even beyond the borders of their country. It's totally ridiculous.
Matt smiles at the man sitting across from him.
"Thank you for coming, Mr. Wilson. It's an honour to meet you. Really."
"Hold on to that feeling real strong, Mr. Murdock - afraid I'm about to make your job a real pain in the ass."
A warm chuckle in that voice, but to Matt's sensitive ears, not unreasonable to detect a hint of fatigue there. Sam Wilson has been braving a media shit storm of epic proportions recently - and that was before the government starting dropping passive agressive hints about the ownership of the shield Sam's claimed as his own once more. Add to that a cocktail of work with the GRC to get them to stay the course and not deport the blip refugees... a man's gotta sleep, but really, who has the time?
"You come highly recommended. If you let me know your favorite guilty passion food I'll try to bribe my way into your good graces by bringing it for future appointments."
Sam's voice is deep and rich, and there's an unmistakable Louisiana drawl in there - it's not particularly heavy, but Sam also doesn't go to any trouble to make it disappear.
